Get To Know Emily
At FCI, every client relationship starts with connection. Our team members bring their whole selves to work, their experiences, their compassion, and their dedication to helping others. Here's a glimpse into who they are and why they love what they do.
Tell us about yourself-where you're from, what you love to do, and anything else you'd like us to know!
I was born and raised in Winder Ga, I have one daughter, Grayson- the light of my life- she is 22 and attends Augusta University- I have worked at Family Care since March 2021. I am HR Coordinator for Athens office and also teach part time at Lanier Tech-before coming to FCI I taught middle school for 13 years. I love UGA football, college football, attending my niece and nephews sporting events and spending time with my family and friends whether we are just hanging out at the pool, going on vacations or watching football
What is your role at FCI and how long have you been here?
Athens Area HR Coordinator since March 2021
What is your favorite part of working with the families we serve?
My favorite part about working with my aides and our families is building meaningful relationships that allow me to support them in any way I can. I love getting to know all the aides and their families, as well as, our clients.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the FCI team?
I love that we are like a family and work together as a team toward our goals- it is rewarding to be part of a group where everyone brings something special to the table and we all help each other succeed
What is something clients or FCI have taught you?
FCI has taught me to really listen and be there for everyone- I have had to learn a lot of patience and that hard work pays off
What is something clients have taught you while working with them?
They have taught me to keep going, even in the most difficult situations!
Share a memorable moment with a client that has always stayed with you.
One of sweetest memorable moments I've had is going to see a client in a hard situation and she handed me a Thank You card she handwrote and said she would never forget me
What's a skill or habit that helps you provide the best possible care?
Empathy for all situations and kindness to everyone- you never know what someone else is going through
How has caring for others changed your outlook on life?
I have learned to slow down and appreciate all the small moments, not to take anyone or anything for granted
